Charlie Summerville
Experienced professional Alaska fly fishing guides are the heart and sole of our business. Owner/Headguide
Charlie Summerville has been in the trenches guiding as an
Alaska fishing guide since he was 19 years old and guiding fly fisherman in
Bristol Bay Alaska for the past 22 seasons. Charlie still guides 4-5 days a
week, so he never forgets were he came from and keeps his pulse on the
daily fishing conditions. Alaska Adventures knows the true value of a professional
fly fishing guide. Charlie has earned his guides respect by being a leader
and expects the highest standards and conduct of his fellow professional fly fishing guides.
Capt. Moe Neale :: Operations Manager-Head Guide
Born and Raised in upstate New York Moe has been guiding fishermen in both
Alaska and NY for over 16 years! Alaska Adventures staff and guides look to
Moe as head guide. Moe spent 10 years guiding on the Delaware River and 15
years on the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY. Besides his keen ability to catch
fish in all conditions, Moe is a true handyman and can fix any problem that
may arise at the lodge or on the water. Moe is one of the most well rounded
guides in the industry. From back-trolling for monster King Salmon to dry
fly fishing for trophy rainbows, you will be assured a great day on the
water. Moe will be coordinating all new construction projects and
expansions during the off season along with working closely in the office
with Charlie & Kevin.
Capt. Don Kingsley :: Lodge Manager/Senior Guide
Born and Raised in upstate New York Don has been guiding fishermen in both Alaska and
NY for over 20 years! In the fishing community Don is looked to by many to have
achieved legend status. Alaska Adventures staff and guides look to Don as lodge
Manager and Senoir guide. He will tell you with his humble tone that he does
not know anything, but don’t let him fool you; Don has guided on the lower
Alagnak River boondogin’ and backtrolling the tidewaters for fresh kings as well
as being an expert fly fishing guide on the upper Alagnak Braids. His boat
always comes back to camp with huge numbers and there is no secret why. Don is
a retired Master Electrician and runs Alaska Adventures keeping the
infrastructure running smooth. In the off season Don continues to guide on the
Salmon River for Steelhead and Salmon running his own guide service called Tight
Lines Guide Service out of Pulaski, NY.
Capt. Pilot/Guide Phil Byrd
Raised in Eastern North Carolina as a fishing guide on the Outer Banks and Pamlico
Sound for Stripers, tarpon, tuna and drum.. Phil moved to Alaska full time in 2005 ready to get serious. Charlie
met Phil when he was 16 at a CCA banquet and he asked Charlie for a job, Charlie
recommended for him to get a few years more experience Wow did he ever. Phil
came to work for us at 23 as the most motivated young guide The staff at Alaska
Adventures has had the pleasure to work with. Phil started his Alaska career
guiding fishing and hunting for 2 years on Kodiak Island before we were lucky
enough to have this great guide come back to join our Team of Professional
Guides. Phil is many things: an entrepreneur, outdoor Guide enthusiast, bird
hunter and salt water angler not to mention a fine young pilot, fly fisherman
and jet boat captain, Mechanic and Carpenter. Phil holds a Pilots license in
Alaska along with a big game asst. hunting guide license and a professional
water fowl guide license. Phil has taken over all the big game and waterfowl
guiding operations. You will probably see Phil in King Salmon coordinating many
of the day to day logistics along with guiding salmon and trout fisherman in
June and July or helping out in the office. During the fall Phil can be found
guiding big game and water fowl hunters through out wilderness Alaska and
attending Sport shows and conventions on the east coast as a guest speaker and
exhibitor representing Alaska-Adventures or Aleutian Island Water fowlers and
Arctic-North-Guides our sister companies that Phil is a manager of.
Capt. Kevin Bonasera :: Office Manager/Guide
Born and raised in Columbus Ohio Kevin holds his undergraduate degree in Business
Administration from Ohio Dominican University and is truly a trout fishing
enthusiast. Kevin acts as Fishing Guide, Guide School Instructor, as well as
Office Manager and Sales Associate for Alaska Adventures. As one of our veteran
guides Kevin knows the Upper Braids of the Alagnak River like the back of his
hand and is known to put anglers from beginner to expert on huge Rainbow Trout
whatever the situation. Make sure to bring your tape measures and digital
cameras! Kevin was a raft guide and float fishing guide in Colorado on the
Gunnison and Taylor Rivers, a ski instructor for Crested Butte Mountain Resort,
and a jet boat captain on Lees Ferry of the Colorado River before working full
time for Alaska Adventures. In the off season Kevin finds time between
answering phones and traveling to fishing expos to guide Steelhead fishermen in
upper PA during the month of November.
Capt. Justin Bleicher
Raised in the Outer Banks in Eastern Carolina Justin holds an undergraduate degree in
Geology from Eastern Carolina University. Justin is a duck hunting connoisseur
and a world class waterfowl guide. With over 15 years as a professional guide
Justin has a background in commercial fishing and has more boat time than can be
counted. Probably the kindest individual you will ever meet, Justin is an
important part to Alaska Adventures. Justin is dubbed Head Captain and shuttle
man moving both clients and gear up and down the river rain or shine. A fine
boat captain and guide Justin will make your gut hurt with his hilarity, charm
you with his southern hospitality. Your arm will hurt with the amount of fish you will catch.
Capt. Patrick McIntyre
Raised in Northern California, Pat spent lots of his time fly fishing for steelhead and
trout. Pat's attention to detail and enthusiasm for fishing make him a great fly
fisherman and wilderness rafting guide. Who is Pat? Pat is a professional
outdoor action photographer following speed skiers down mountains at mock speed,
a past bungee cord business owner insuring safe jumps and a extreme skiing
competitor flying off snow capped cliffs. With the drive to be the best and his
competitive nature Pat is becoming one of Alaska Adventures most well rounded
top fly fishing guides with a bright future. In the off season Pat can be found
filming the winter Olympics with NBC or extreme skiing in Canada as he is a
world class extreme action camera man with many skills.
Capt. Miles Nolte
Raisedin Kailua, Hawaii on the island of O'ahu. Miles grew up spin casting for reef
fish and spending summers in Northern Wisconsin catching bass, pike, walleye,
Muskie and panfish. Miles received his undergraduate degree in California where
he discovered fly fishing and trout. After college, Miles moved to Southern
Africa where he was a teacher and spent his spare time battling tigerfish on the
Chobe River. For the past three years Miles has been living in Southwestern
Montana, spending every possible moment fly fishing on some of the country's
most storied rivers and streams. Though a new member to the team of guides,
Miles brings with him experience and knowledge that will augment our fantastic
staff. Miles is a fine boat captain, guide school instructor for fly tying and
casting instructions. He is a personable guide that knows how to put anglers on
fish and make anglers fishing dreams come true.In the off season Miles resides
in Bozeman fly fishing for trout and writing Fly fishing articles and short
stories taking advantage of his English literature degree between ski
instructing. Look forward to reading your future articles.
Capt. Tyler Busenbark
Born in Fort Collins Colorado Tyler is finishing his Degree in Forestry Wildlife and
National Resources at Front Range Community College. Tyler grew up enjoying
duck and goose hunting, spin and bow fishing for walleye, and bait casting for
catfish. His love for fishing landed him in Alaska and is quoted at saying
about Alaska that it is the "best place in the world to work and play." In his
spare time Tyler enjoys fly tying, his favorite Alaska Fly pattern is the
Popsicle fished at fresh Silvers Salmon, and he plans to continue guiding in
Alaska upon graduation from college.
Capt. Mike Tappero
Born in Rhode Island Fly fishing Fishing and waterfowl hunting since he was old enough
get in a boat, Mike has been a Professional fishing guided for the past 3
seasons on local rivers in the Bristol bay area. Mike brings a strong knowledge
of Salmon fishing and waterfowl guiding. Mike is one of our cross trained
Professional guides who can do it all from Rafting guide to Wing shooting guide.
After the fishing lodge closes down mike Continues the season as a Professional
Waterfowl Guide from mid Sept through January 22 with our sister company
Aleutian Island Waterfowlers...
Capt. Matt Daley :: Fly Fishing Guide
Born and raised in Wyoming on the family ranch, Matt is no stranger to
hard work and a love for trout fishing. Matt infectious jokes and constant
smile offer our anglers an unforgettable day of fly fishing. In the off
season Matt lives to Ski and flyfish throughout the wild west basing his
adventures in Bozeman Montana. his favorite Alaska Fly pattern is a crazy
sculpin pattern that he ties but it brings allot of big trout to the pliars.
Capt. Dave Vezendy :: Fly fishing Guide
Born in Upstate NY fishing the famed Salmon River and Adirondack regions, Dave
graduated from St Lawrence University with a degree in Math and Physics with
a minor in engineering from Clarkson University. His love for
adventure and the Outdoors led him to Alaska Adventures. During the off
season he annually travels fly fishing with his family to Chile and
Argentina. Dave enjoys fly tying, his favorite Alaska Fly pattern for trout is the
Kiwi Muddler.
Professional Fishing Guides
Alaska Adventures main goal is to have the best Alaska fishing guides working for them. Over
the years we have acquired a veteran staff of very experienced professional Alaska
fly fishing guides. Our professional guides range from 21-55 years old and have a combined fishing guide
experience of over 80 years guiding fisherman. The professional Alaska fishing guides
that work for Alaska Adventures come from all over the US to include Montana,
Florida, North Carolina, Upstate NY ,Ohio, Arizona and Washington State, they
represent a vast knowledge of some of the best fisheries in the country as most
of them are professional year round guides that work in Alaska during the summer
and guide elsewhere in the off season. Each professional guide is a United
States Coast Guard licensed boat captain, fully trained in CPR, first aid,
water safety, and has the technical skills to teach Alaska fly fishing classes, fly
tying and casting clinics nightly at the lodge or just rig your terminal gear
correctly.
